Product Information

Cuttlefish Paste Flavor is a flavor system derived from processing cuttlefish (scientific name: Sepia officinalis). It uses the viscera, ink sacs, or fresh meat of cuttlefish as raw materials, which are first simmered and concentrated, then seasoned with salt, sugar, and spices (such as white pepper and garlic powder) to make cuttlefish paste, and finally formed through extraction or compounding.
Its core is to recreate the "seafood-specific salty umami" unique to cuttlefish, with a mild rich ink aroma and a subtle fresh marine note. Different from the sweet freshness of ordinary shrimp and crab flavors, it leans more towards a rich, long-lasting seafood base.
It has three key characteristics:
Dual effect of odor elimination and umami enhancement: It can not only mask the fishy taste of freshwater fish and ordinary minced meat but also amplify the inherent umami of ingredients, especially suitable for seafood raw materials.
Strong flavor memory point: It comes with scenario associations of "Chaoshan Cuttlefish Balls", "Japanese Takoyaki", and "Southeast Asian Satay Skewers", which quickly evokes consumers' recognition of seafood dishes.
Color adaptability: If it contains natural cuttlefish ink, it can simultaneously impart a dark brown or black hue to ingredients (e.g., squid ink pasta, cuttlefish balls), enhancing visual recognition.

Application

Seafood Processing Products
Surimi products: Core seasoning for cuttlefish balls, fish cakes, and fish dumpling fillings. It gives ordinary surimi (e.g., basa fish surimi) the springy tenderness and rich umami of real cuttlefish (e.g., Chaoshan hand-made cuttlefish balls, added at 0.5%-1% of surimi weight).
Ready-to-eat seafood: Added to the brine/marinade of braised cuttlefish cubes and grilled cuttlefish claws to enhance the salty umami base (e.g., Japanese simmered cuttlefish, paired with soy sauce and mirin to balance sweet and salty).
Frozen & Pre-made Foods
Frozen pastries: Cuttlefish-flavored dumplings (pork + cuttlefish paste filling) and cuttlefish buns (dough tinted with a little cuttlefish ink). They release seafood aroma when heated, suitable for breakfast/tea snacks.
Pre-made staples: Added to seasoning packs for cuttlefish fried rice and squid ink pasta, quickly replicating restaurant-level seafood taste (e.g., Hong Kong-style cuttlefish ball fried rice).
Snack Foods
Puffed/baked snacks: In industrial production of cuttlefish-flavored potato chips and shrimp sticks, its flavoring is paired with salt and MSG to create salty seafood taste.
Dried meat/fish: Added to cuttlefish-flavored pork jerky and grilled dried fish to reduce dryness and add seafood layers (e.g., Southeast Asian cuttlefish pork jerky).
Seasonings & Soup Bases
Compound seasonings: Cuttlefish paste seafood sauce and hot pot dipping sauce (paired with minced garlic and chopped green onions), used for dipping in seafood hot pot or tossing cold dishes.
Soup bases: A small amount added to oden, seafood congee, and spicy hot pot soup bases to enhance seafood complexity (e.g., convenience store oden soup bases).
